The Assyrians never conquered Kush though they claimed they did. They conquered Egypt which was being ruled by Kush at the time but they did not conquer Kush and there is no evidence that reached as far south as Meroe
The Romans only claimed to have got as far as Napata when they fought with Kush centuries later
The only civilization that might have reached as far south into Kush as Meroe was the Persians
meroe
The third capital city of the Kush Kingdom was Meroe. The capital city was moved from Napata at 591 BCE until 350 when it was disestablished.
The Kingdom of Kush was invaded by the Kingdom of Axum, which is located in present-day Ethiopia and Eritrea. The Axumites, motivated by trade routes and territorial expansion, eventually destroyed the capital city of Meroe around the 4th century AD. This invasion marked the decline of the Kushite Kingdom, which had previously thrived as a powerful entity in northeastern Africa.
