The first significant action that the Romans took was the establishment of the city of Rome itself, traditionally dated to 753 BCE. According to legend, Romulus founded the city after he and his brother Remus were raised by a she-wolf. Following its founding, the Romans developed a structured society, creating political and social systems that would evolve into the Roman Republic. This laid the groundwork for their eventual expansion and dominance in the Mediterranean region.
Remus wanted to build his city on the Palatine Hill. According to Roman mythology, he and his brother Romulus had a dispute over the location for their city, which ultimately led to Romulus founding Rome on the Palatine Hill instead. The rivalry between the brothers is a central theme in the legend of Rome's founding.
The legend does not have Aeneas founding Rome - that was Romulus and Remus. Supposedly after deserting Troy after its capture by the Archeans, Aeneas went via Carthage to central Italy and there in Latinum became the ancestor of Romulus and Remus, but did not found Rome.
The legend of the founding of Rome was by two brothers namely Remus and Romulus.
No one knows the accurate date, but according to legend Rome was founded in 735 BC by Romulus and Remus, and Romulus became the first king. The Monarchy continued on until 509 BC, when the Republic was formed.
