This question can be answered in two ways. There are vice presidents who have gone on to become president because the former president has died or resigned and then there are those that were also reelected.

James Tyler became president in 1842 after James Harrison died. He did not run again.

Millard Fillmore became president in 1850 after Taylor died. He lost the nomination to become president.

Andrew Johnson became president in 1865 after Lincoln was shot. He failed to win the nomination.

Chester Arthur became president in 1881 after Garfield was assassinated and he was not nominated to run again.

Theodore Roosevelt, in 1901 rose to presidency after McKinley was assassinated. He ran for the next term and won. He did not run in th 1908, but ran in 1912 and lost.

Calvin Coolidge took over for Harding in 1928 after he had a heart attack. He was elected to a full term, but did not seek a second.

Harry Truman became president in 1945 for Franklin Roosevelt. He was elected for a full term, but did not seek reelection.

Lyndon B. Johnson, in 1963, became president when Kennedy was shot. He was elected for a full term, but did not run for relection in 1968.

Lastly, after Nixon resigned, Gerald Ford became president in 1974. He lost the election to to Jimmy Carter in 1976.
