The French had claimed the Ohio River Valley first, so they are the ones who fought against the British.
American Indians in the Ohio River Valley united and joined Pontiac in fighting the British due to growing resentment toward British expansion and encroachment on their lands following the French and Indian War. The British imposed restrictive policies and failed to honor treaties, leading to a loss of trade and resources. Pontiac's leadership inspired a collective resistance to reclaim their territory and assert their rights, as tribes recognized the need for unity against a common adversary. This alliance aimed to protect their way of life and preserve their autonomy in the face of colonial expansion.
The colonists idea of expansion was important to make their land a bigger area. However when the french settled in to the Ohio river valley it stopped expansion of britain which angered them and caused conflict. The british asked nicely for them to move out but the french were not intimidated
