Napoleon hated England, he had reasons why:

1. England was one of the few European countries that remained out of Napoleon's empire.

2. The Industrial Revolution put the French people out of work, weakening France's economy.

3. They had the strongest Navy in the world (and control of the sea.)

4. When he found out that Josephine ( his 1st wife ) was cheating on him, he sent an emotional letter to his brother. The English intercepted this letter and published it in a London newspaper.

The above is plausible, but Napoleon referred to Talleyrand, his foreign secretary, as a "Silk Stocking Full of Merde"

It is probably more apt to say that Napoleon was never strongly persuaded one way or another as regards caring about slaves. He brought slavery back in order to limit the power of Toussaint L'Ouverture in Haiti in 1802, but eventually banned the slave trade to save face with Britain in 1815.
