Fort Necessity.
Albany was originally founded as a Dutch fur trading post called Fort Orange in 1624. It was established by the Dutch West India Company and served as a key center for trade and commerce in the region. The settlement later evolved into the city of Albany, which became the capital of New York State.
Fort Laramie started as a fur trading post named Fort William in 1834. In 1841, Fort William was replaced with a larger structure named Fort John. As the fur trade declined, Fort John became a post which catered to emigrants on the Oregon trail. In 1849, the US Army purchased Fort John and renamed it Fort Laramie. It became a military post and soon became the principal military outpost on the Northern Plains.

Old Fort Boise (1834–54), a trading post, was abandoned in 1854. New Fort Boise was established by the United States Army in 1863 after settling the northern boundary dispute.
Fort Laramie was a historic military post established in 1834 in present-day Wyoming. It played a significant role in westward expansion and the development of the American frontier. It served as a key trading post and strategic military outpost for the U.S. Army during the 19th century.
The Dutch established a trading post called Fort Nassau on the site of modern Albany in 1614. It did not last though. Their first permanent settlement was Fort Orange, which was also where Albany is today.
The original Fort Chipewyan was established in the late 18th century as a fur trading post. Today, remnants of the original fort include some restored buildings and archaeological sites that offer a glimpse into its history, but the majority of the fort no longer exists. The community of Fort Chipewyan in Alberta, Canada, has since grown and developed around the original fort site.
Fort Hall was a trading post established in 1834 by Nathaniel Wyeth, on the Snake River near Pocatello. It was the main stoping point on the Oregon Trail. It was destroyed by floods in 1862 and 1864 and rebuilt. The population of Fort Hall according to the 2000 census is 3,193.
