In 1951, General Douglas MacArthur proposed an aggressive plan to end the stalemate in the Korean War by expanding military operations beyond the Korean Peninsula. He suggested launching air strikes against Chinese bases in Manchuria and potentially using atomic weapons to intimidate the Chinese forces. However, this strategy faced significant opposition from President Harry Truman and other U.S. officials, who were concerned about escalating the conflict into a broader war with China and the Soviet Union. Truman in April 1951 due to disagreements over military strategy.
