Taking place in 1950-1953, the Korean War offers to contemporary observers any number of interesting facts. One would be the dramatic swing of fortunes of the adversaries: initially pushed back to a small area in the deep south of what would eventually become South Korea, the South Korean forces (aided by troops from various Western nations) pushed back the North Korean invaders all the way to the border of China in the north. In turn, aided by Chinese troops, the North Koreans once again took to the offensive: they advanced to the famous 38th parallel before the war came to a halt.
China got involved in the war because by that time, UN forces had gotten pretty darn near the Chinese boarder, and they didn't want a UN force right at their doorstep. So they invaded and started pushing the UN all the way back to the 38th parallel
Mission accomplished; communists stopped at the 38th parallel.
China
the 38th parallel was the boundry line before the war, and they merely went back to the 38th parallel after the armistice

They controlled all the cities except Pusan but were pushed back to their territory but pushed back the allies with the Chinese support to the 38th parralel
To drive the communists back above the 38th Line (Parallel) and keep them there.
General Douglas MacArthur.
The Korean War was fought over the 38th parallel in order to define the North and South Korean border. The North and the South did this where is now the famous Korean War peninsula. This is the same border nowadays that was claimed back then.

UN forces pushed the Communist back from Pusan.............and advanced north
None, it was an undeclared war. On June 25, 1950 at 11:00 a.m., the Premier of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kim Il Sung, declared war on the Republic of Korea. In response to this declaration and the attack by North Korean forces across the 38th parallel, the United Nations issued a resolution calling for a cessation of hostilities and the withdrawal of North Korean military forces back across the 38th parallel. The United States responded by supporting its ally, South Korea. Ergo, the government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is the body that declared war on the Republic of Korea.
