In the Dark Ages, one of the notable figures who employed framed narrative form was Geoffrey Chaucer in his work "The Canterbury Tales," written in the late 14th century. Although it falls slightly after the traditional Dark Ages period, Chaucer's tales feature a narrative structure where various characters tell their own stories within the larger framework of a pilgrimage. This technique allows for a diverse range of voices and themes, reflecting the complexities of medieval society. Other examples of framed narratives can also be found in earlier texts like "The One Thousand and One Nights," which influenced later literature.

The Dark Ages are the 500 or so years after the fall of the West Roman Empire. Dates used for this time are usually 476 to 1066 or something like that. It is a term that has gone out of fashion in much of the world, though it is still used in the UK. People who use the term Dark Ages often date the Middle Ages as starting with the end of the Dark Ages and lasting until 1485, when the Wars of the Roses ended. The term Middle Ages is used by other people as a name of the whole period, usually with the dates 476 to 1453. These people use the term Early Middle Ages for the Dark Ages of 476 to 1000, High Middle ages for the period from 1000 to 1300, and Late Middle Ages for the period from 1300 to 1453. Personally, I think neither the terms Dark Ages and Early Middle Ages is very useful. The time from 400 to 700 was the Age of Migration, characterized in Western Europe by a series of invasions by migrating peoples, often very destructive, who eventually settled down and went through a series of issues that had to be addressed as they established kingdoms with well functioning laws and customs. The later time, from 700 to 1000, included the Carolingian Renaissance, the Macedonian Renaissance, and the Ottonian Renaissance, times of great political, social, and cultural development. These two times were more different from each other than the later was from the High Middle Ages, I believe, and if the Middle Ages are to be subdivided, that should be taken into account.
A new form of architecture that emerged in the high Middle Ages was called the French style, or Gothic architecture.
One famous example of a framed narrative is in Geoffrey Chaucer's "The Canterbury Tales," where a group of pilgrims tell stories to pass the time during their journey to Canterbury. This structure allows for multiple stories to be woven together within the overarching frame of the pilgrimage.

The Dark Ages do not make up the entire period that historians consider to be the Middle Ages. The term â??Dark Agesâ?? was first used in the Renaissance Period to acknowledge a newer and more modern form of literature, knowledge, and philosophy. Before this time, little records survive to support any true intellectual movements or stimulation. After the fall of Rome, much of the culture was that of the Church allowing minimal room for intellectual growth. No one individual person has been given credit for the term. The beginning of the Dark Ages marks the ending of the era where Rome ruled most of Europe and Asia. Its nicknamed the Dark Ages because after the fall of the Roman empire, the rest of Europe left the big cities and went back to living in villages and Farms. Thus began the Medieval era.
