Henry I, also known as Henry Beauclerc was crowned King of England on August 5th 1100 and reigned until his death in 1135.

Henry was the fourth and youngest son of William the Conquerer (King William I) and claimed the throne from his brother William Rufus after he died in a suspicious hunting "accident". Shortly after his coronation, Henry married Matilda, the daughter of the King of Scots, Malcolm III in what was widely seen as a political move to bolster relations between the two nations. Henry I also successfully lead the conquest of Normandy, resulting in the eventual defeat of his brother Duke Robert.
