There is some confusion about this. Arc appears to have been her family surname, not a location, unlike say, Isabella of Castile ( a real Lady Knight-general rank- a Queen in armor!). Arc is not a province of France like Lorraine ( which she is often associated with- the cross of Lorraine) - so maybe it was just her last name, like Robert De La Salle, the explorer- Robert of the Hall, or in simpler form, Robert Hall, yes the clothing chain name in his honor- from Detroit.
