Spartacus (Greek: Σπάρτακος, Spártakos; Latin: Spartacus[1]) (c. 109 BC - 71 BC) was the most notable leader of the slaves in the Third Servile War, a major slave uprising against the Roman Republic.

Nat Turner was the first slave to rebel and it basically encouraged other slaves to rebel. It also led to the making of slave codes which were laws or regulations that slaves, slave owners, and other bystanders that might see a runaway slave, would have to follow. Nat turner was also hanged as a consequence for rebelling.

Additionally, Spartacus and his followers were able to secure resources and support from local communities, allowing them to sustain their rebellion for an extended period of time.
