Guy Fawkes did not succeed in blowing up Parliament, but he was the one who attempted to do so in 1605. He was part of the Gunpowder Plot, which was an attempt by a group of Catholic extremists to assassinate King James I of England, his family, and most of the Protestant aristocracy in one hit by blowing up the Houses of Parliament during the State Opening.
No. He was caught red-handed, trying to light the explosives under the House of Lords on 5th November 1605. He was sentenced to be hung, drawn and quartered, but jumped from the gallows, which meant drawing and quartering were not necessary.
Guido Fawkes (Guy) in 1605 was close but never got the chance to bomb Parliament, he attempted to, but never succeeded as he was caught, then tortured (hung, drawn and quarted before he was burnt on his own pile of gunpowder, (although i suspect, he wasn't burnt on gun powder) & that is why we have a Guy on a bonfire at Guy Fawkes celebration, pleasant... huh? Check out wikipedia, they have all about him on it.
In 1605.
COCAINE. ALso, he and a group of friends tried to blow up the UK Houses of Parliament in 1605 but he got caught and that is why we have bonfire night and burn a guy on the bonfire!
November 5th is a commemoration of the discovery and foiling of the gunpowder plot which was intended to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605. Guido Fawkes was the man who was caught but not the main perpetrator.

November 5, 1605, when Guido Fawkes was caught red-handed preparing the gunpowder in a cellar the gang had rented. One of his co-conspirators accidentally but clumsily tipped off the authorities by warning a friend not to attend Parliament on the 6th! Although not knowing what was actually intended, the friend raised the alarm.
