Robert Hooke discovered the cell in 1625 when he used a rudimentary microscope to magnify cork cells. They reminded him of monk's cells in a monastery so he named the objects he found "cells." He wasn't even looking for it. He found it by causality.

hooke discovered cells in England in 1665
Robert Hooke did not discover blood cells. He was the first person to see cells. He saw cells of the oak plant in cork. He viewed a tiny slice of cork under his microscope and saw small compartments which he called cells.
A light microscope is commonly used to discover cells due to its ability to visualize small structures like cells at a high resolution. Additionally, electron microscopes can also be utilized for more detailed imaging of cells at the nanoscale level.
