October 1991: Marta Bohn-Mayer becomes first female SR-71 crew-member.
U2 spy plane and/or SR-71
the wright brothers started research and development of the plane in 1899 and took the first flight in 1903.
The SR-71 wasn't introduced until 1964. The premier recon plane used by the US during WWII was the Lockheed P-38 Lightning.
The F-15 Eagle is one of the worlds fastest operational fighter jets with a top speed of Mach 2.5. The Lockheed YF-12 interceptor, one of the predecessors of the SR-71 "Blackbird" was approved for acquisition by the USAF back in the 1960's, but due to government intervention the order for 100 planes was canceled. The YF-12 was reportedly capable of Mach 3.35.
Cal Ripken started out as a Shortstop in 1981, and was moved to third base late in his career (1997) He also played 3B in 1981 (6 games) and 71 games in 1982. That was Cal Ripken Jr, not Sr. Cal Sr. never played at the major league level. Not sure what position he played.
The SR-71 had 1 pilot, but had a a crew of two. The other crew member was in charge of the reconnaissance part of the mission.
The first SR-71 Blackbird was created @ Lockheed's "Skunkworks" in northern CA
The SR 71 Blackbird was first introduced on the 22 December 1964
The SR 71 was created between 1960 and 1963 and first served in the USAF in 1964
The first Blackbird, the A-12, flew in 1962. The next version, the YF-12, first flew in 1963. The SR-71 flew in 1964.
Yes Brian Shul was a SR-71 pilot. "The SR-71 definitely had two personalities; subsonic and supersonic. The first was quite predictable and stable; the latter always a bit of an adventure."
The SR-71 by Lockheed was a very fast development compared to many military aircraft. The plane was developed from the work done on the A-12, beginning in 1960 and with the first SR-71 flying in 1964.
They were designed and built in the early 1960's and the first flight of an SR-71 took place on 22 December 1964
The SR-71 Blackbird, originally named the RS-71, but renamed when Lyndon Johnson accidentally rearranged the letters during his 1964 announcement of the existence of the SR-71 (or RS-71?). Anyway, it was designed by Clarence "Kelly" Johnson, at that time vice president of the Skunk Works. The project began in February 1963. The SR-71/RS-71 was built to be a strategic reconnaissance aircraft. Its first flight was on Dec. 22, 1964. Regarding cost, the SR-71 was not cheap. The cost of running the SR-71 fleet in the 1980s was $260 million annually and It costs $50,000 an hour to fly the SR on a routine basis.

The first airplane was made in 1903. The fastest jet plane is SR-71 Blackbird. The SR-71 flies at a speed almost 1000 times higher than the first plane.
The SR-71 Blackbird have retired since 1990.
