The Tsar and most of his family were executed after the Decembrist Bolshevik revolution, led at least ideologically by Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, though rumours abound that his youngest daughter, Anastasiya, had survived the scourge, and subsequently there have been many imposters claiming to be the last Russian princess.
