The only Louisiana governor from Lake Charles was Edwin Edwards. He served four terms as governor, first from 1972 to 1980 and then from 1984 to 1988. Edwards is known for his charismatic personality and for implementing significant reforms during his time in office. His tenure was marked by both accomplishments and controversies.

William Charles Cole Claiborne was a United States politician, best known as the first US governor of the state of Louisiana, serving from 1812 to 1816.He was elected to the US Senate, but served only 7 months, from April 4, 1817 until his death on November 23, 1817. He has 3 Louisiana parishes (counties) named after him,and also the longest street in New Orleans (Claiborne Avenue).

Caddo Lake is the only naturally occurring lake in Texas. It is on the border with Louisiana. Many sites claim that there is only one natural lake in Texas, that being Caddo Lake on the Texas-Louisiana border. However, this neglects some oxbow lakes and other smaller lakes. Green Lake is a natural tidal lake in Calhoun County, Texas, on the Guadalupe River flood basin. There are some other small naturally occurring lakes in Texas, like Mitchell Lake in San Antonio, but most of the other lakes in Texas are reservoirs and not naturally occurring lakes.

Louisiana's home team is the Saints. Some of Louisiana's famous landmarks are the Mahalia Jackson theater, the French Quarters and the Evergreen Plantation. Louisiana is best known for our crawfish and crabs and our southern personality and, the best of all, our jazz music. One of the most famous jazz players is Louis Armstrong. Two of our most famous lakes are the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain. In Indian speaking Mississippi means big river the end.
