first of all, there are many chemicals in the bomb, which affects the lungs greatly. people now that dealed with them, are developing problems.
They all died lots of people died, yes, but the radiation from the bomb also affected the survivours and gave them diseases that their decendants got. so a child years after the atomic bomb could die as like an after effect
If the atomin bomb didnt work. The preident (Harry Truman) would launch an all-out attack on Japan that I would estimate kill as much people as 20 atomic bombs.

America they had lotz of money to pay for the making of the atomic bomb and also they had to help rebuild the japan city they harmed. It affected America by money and affected japan emotionally
