The Dutch in to New York area.
The English in New England, and southwards down the Atlantic Coast. Also Hudson's Bay in Canada.
The French in New Orleans, and up the Mississippi/Missouri rivers in to the Great Lakes and down the St. Lawrence river.
The Spanish colonised Florida, and The South West and Pacific coast of the USA.
The African-American forbears were shipped over, as slaves, from Africa by these colonisers. They were not colonisers in their own right.

In 1607, the colony of Jamestown was founded in Virginia, followed by the establishment of Plymouth Colony in 1620 by the Pilgrims. These colonies were the early beginnings of English colonization in North America.
Christopher Columbus did not establish any permanent colonies in the New World himself. However, he made four voyages between 1492 and 1504, during which he claimed various territories for Spain, notably in the Bahamas and Hispaniola. The first Spanish settlement, La Isabela, was established in 1493 during his second voyage but was ultimately short-lived. Subsequent explorers and settlers built on his claims to establish more permanent colonies.
New Jersey was first discovered by the Dutch and called New Netherlands before the English took it over.

The first English colony to be established in the New World was the Jamestown colony. The last English colony in the New World was British Colombia which was not colonized until the mid 1800s.

Sir Walter Raleigh argued that England should establish colonies in the New World. He believed that establishing colonies would bring wealth and power to England.
They wanted to spread Chrstianity and conquer new lands.
