Red Indians are now known as Native American or American Indians. The origin of the term "Red Man" is not clear. Native Americans are known to have a copperish or brownish hue although some Native Americans can get sunburn and turn redish. Many tribes did paint themselves for war and red may have been the most popular color to indicate tribes intention for combat. Other sources say red refered to the bloody scalps of victims.

The American Indians , also known as the Native Americans or the Red Indians, is the term used by people in the United States to refer to the 'indigenous' people of the American Land, (North America, Central America and South America) Which they called Turtle Island .Today the term Nican Tlaca is apolitically correct term for the race as a whole and Amerind is the accepted term for American Indians. Other names are used in different regions, e.g., First Nations is the accepted term in Canada and among the native tribes inhabiting that land. This includes the people of the far North, who have been referred to by the term 'Eskimo'. (NB: 'Eskimo' is a pejorative term and should not be used. The correct way to reference the peoples of the far North is by their specific tribal name, e.g., Inupiat, Inuit, etc.) Christopher Columbus named them 'American Indians' because he got lost and thought that he had arrived in India due to the peoples skin complexion , which was the same as the 'Indians' ( of India).

The Amerinds were the first peoples to settle on the American continent since ancient times. Scientific evidence suggests that they inhabited this land by crossing the continent of Eurasia through the Bering Strait.

The pyramids in Mexico mark the center of one native or aboriginal civilization in pre-Columbian times. Many Great contributions came from them re culture such as potatoes, corn, agricultural & engineering terracing, chocolate, Advanced forms of canal and irrigating systems, astrology, stone architecture techniques, mining, gold and silver smithing...etc. They even had universities and a better system of health care than we do today, utilizing herbs and natural remedies in conjunction with faith and the supernatural.

The majority of Nican Tlaca "The People" were characterized by high cheek bones with russet skin complexion'. Though "The People'' were called savages they actually are quite the opposite, giving great respect to life ,love ,and all that's is good in this world, even embracing other cultures. It is a mistake to confuse ancient with a lack of sophistication.
