The Cyprus Regiment was part of the British Army in WW2. Typically, the British regiments had a regimental cap badge and maybe wore their name on a brass badge or cloth patch on the top of their sleeve. The cap badge was s shield with 2 lions with a scroll underneath it having their name and topped with the King's crown. I'm not sure if they wore a sleeve device. The size of the badge may be helpful. If it is small, this could be a collar brass or a specialty badge worn on the sleeve. For example, some in the Signal Corps wore a brass crossed flags on the sleeve, I believe. I will search some references.
