Great Britain was unfairly taking people on American merchant and Navy ships and forcing them to work for the Royal Navy because of the British shortage of volunteers with the usual war against France. The sad thing is, when the president urged congress to declare war on Britain, Britain put an end to "enslaving" Americans. It was a mistake war that costed us terribly. America was extremely unprepared for the strong military knowledge and strategy of the opposing armies of Britain and their Indian allies. We had 7,000 regular army, but a little more militia. All of our Revolutionary War "heroes" were too old to fight.
