The Qing dynasty was the last of the dynasty's. The British and other western powershad been forcing China to trade with them (opium in exchange for tea) and the Chinese did not like it. There were many wars between the Western Powers and China, as well as many rebellions in China. One revoloution in 1911 totally abolished the monarchy. Eventually, the chinese began to catch up with Western Society. They built railroads, telegraphs and industrialized. Communism came about in the 1900's and it was viewed as more efficient way of governing. Now, China is a communist country. They are letting loose, a little bit though.
