There was no reward. The builders were not slaves, but there wasn't much reward. The most reward would be food. :)
We know that the Afterlife was important to ancient Egyptians because they spent so much time and money building pyramids and preserving bodies. They left behind copies of their Book of the Dead.
Kushite cursive script was based on hieroglyphics. - NovaNet answer In addition, the Kushites built numerous pyramids as shrines to their dead. In fact, the Kushites built more pyramids than the Egyptians (although they are much smaller).
The ancient Egyptians placed the Pyramids where they were (on the west side of the Nile River) because they believed that the sun setting in the west was a symbol of life's end. They also built life giving temples (birthplaces) in the east as a symbol of life's beginning.
The earliest known pyramids were built in Egypt around 4600 years ago during the 3rd Dynasty. Chariots first appeared in Egypt when the invading Hyksos brought them in the Second Intermediate Period, around 3650 years ago. Pyramids are built for praying to the Egyptian Gods. They were also built because egyptians believed that when you die you bring all of your riches with you.
