They were all well educated men living in the colonies. John Adams was from Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin was from Pennsylvania, and Thomas Jefferson was from Virginia. Benjamin Franklin (age 70) was the oldest and was well respected for his writing and his inventions. John Adams (age 40) was a lawyer and was not well liked because he defended the British soldiers from the Boston Massacre. Thomas Jefferson (age 33) was the youngest and well educated.
Franklin was never president, and Jefferson (republican) and Adams (federalist) were of different political parties with completely different views. [Jefferson and Adams were both president]
