Why did George Eastman kill himself?

Eastman was in intense pain.It was trouble for him to even stand up. He grew depressed,thinking he would be like his mother,who spend the res of her life in a wheelchair from the same condition.

Also,according to his suicide note,he wrote:"My Work is done,so why wait?"meaning that he did not want to wait for death.
