Why did Hitler not take over Britain when he invaded it?

He attacked Britain but never invaded, In 1940 Hitler lost the Battle of Britian. This was when the British planes shot down the German Bombers. Britian took control of the skies over Britian and the English Channel. If Hitler sent over an army of boats then they'd be sitting ducks waiting to be shot by the British planes.

hitler's luftwaffe could not gain air superiority over the skies of Great Britain. Had he been able to, it is doubtful if the kriegsmarine would have been able to establish, much less maintain, sea control of the Channel.

Hitler did not invade Britain. After taking and invading France, Britain was given the chance to surrender, Britain refused. Britain and its empire stood against Nazism alone, when other European countries had been invaded (France) or wanted to remain neutral (like Ireland) . This carried on until the US joined the war, and aided Britain and it Empire to victory.
