The Indians thought that the English people were invading their rightful land. The Indians we scared of them because of their guns and their other methods of slaughter. With that, The English were cutting down trees and the Indian people didn't appreciate that very much. Remember, it's better to call Indians 'Native Americans' so we don't get it mixed up with people from India (:

They built a fort and within the first six months of the 107 who landed only 44 were still alive. This is due to a combination of disease and attacks by the local Native Americans. So, the interactions between the colonist and the Native Americans wasn't very good.
There were several conflicts between the Jamestown Colony and the Native Americans in the area. One was the usage of Native land for cleared farmland. The Native Americans generally did not clear land of trees before planting crops.
