The Tokugawa shoguns adopted a policy of exclusion primarily to maintain political stability and social order in Japan. They feared that the influx of Western ideas, particularly those promoting individualism and democracy, could destabilize their feudal system and challenge their authority. Additionally, the spread of Christianity was seen as a threat to traditional Japanese beliefs, prompting the shogunate to isolate Japan from foreign influence to preserve its culture and power. This policy ultimately culminated in the Sakoku period, characterized by strict restrictions on foreign contact and trade.

The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 restricted immigration from China. It was enacted under President Chester A. Arthur. The use of Chinese labor for the California Gold Rush and the Transcontinental Railroad prompted an influx from 1848 to 1870, depressing unskilled labor wages, especially in California. The national act followed several restrictive laws in California and other western states, and general animosity toward Asians. The act was renewed in 1892, made permanent in 1902, and not repealed until 1943.
In early stage, [[What weapons did Samurai use]] would be the answer. I suppose in 200 years they have not changed much. In last 20 to 30 years, their weapon had some progress mainly by Takashima Shuhan and Egawa Hidetatsu, who built at least one of the six island fortresses([[:w:Odaiba]]) protecting Yedo castle from American ship in 1853 to 1854 and made and put tens of one-or-two-generation-older western cannons from up-to-date ones. In 1854, Perry went back to Yokohama when they tried to cut in to closer to Yedo Castle as they have found an(?) island fortress which they had not been last year. Main reason why Tokugawa lost was that most of their rifles were Dutch Gewehr gun whose bullets were old-fashioned ball shape, introduced by Takashima in 1831 as Tokugawa mainly had relationship with Holland, while Satsuma and Choshu, their opponents, used mainly [[:w:Minié rifle]], which [[:w:Minié ball]]s were bullets which was revolutionally different, bought from a(?) British merchant while there were lots of stock as American civil war had just finished few years before. Even though Tokugawa had connection with France and some support from Holland, they don't have much information on weapons. Bureaucracy was the biggest reason of everything, and death of Egawa Hidetatsu was another. Both Satsuma and Choshu had had battle with European countries beforehand and had lots of information on most advanced weapons with reality.
The Tokugawa Shogunate enacted a rigid policy of isolation for Japan known as Sakoku. It was enacted in 1630s and remained in place until 1853 when Japan was forcibly opened to Western trade by Commodore Matthew Perry of the United States.

I think as the future is approaching, Indians are shifting to the western culture or you can say they are adopting the western culture. Therefore, I think in 2025 india will prefer more of western food like pizzas, burgers, macroni, pasta, etc but will not forget indian food either.
The Tokugawa period, also known as the Edo period, of Japan collapsed due to unrest in the early 1800s. The government was being poorly managed which deteriorated the social classes. Western intrusion began to open Japan to the influence of the rest of the world. Also, famine and natural disasters caused many issues, especially in the peasant class.
The peoples of western Europe were more impressed by Roman culture than those in the more advanced east, and were therefore more open to adopting Roman customs.

By the end of the Meiji period, the most evident characteristic of Western nations in Japan was industrialization. Japan rapidly modernized its economy and infrastructure, adopting Western technologies and industrial practices, which led to significant advancements in manufacturing and transportation. This transformation was accompanied by a shift towards a more centralized government and the establishment of a modern military, reflecting Western influences in governance and national strength. Additionally, Japan embraced Western education and legal systems, further demonstrating its commitment to modernization.
The Tokugawa shogunate maintained a largely isolationist attitude toward the outside world prior to the nineteenth century. They implemented the sakoku policy, which severely restricted foreign trade and limited interactions primarily to the Dutch and Chinese at the port of Nagasaki. This policy was driven by a desire to maintain social order and prevent the spread of Christianity and foreign influence. As a result, Japan remained largely closed off from Western advancements and ideas during this period.

In 1853 Perry forced Japanese shogunate its ports for Western markets and thus ending the long lasting isolation (since Tokugawa Ieyatsu became the Shogun ending the Sengoku Jidai period - 1600). This lead to a huge dissatisfaction between both Japanese population and damiyo's (nobles) opposing Tokugawa rule. Those forces rallied behind the figure of Emperor (later known as Meiji) who had until this point no real power. The Emperor's forces won the war and restored the Emperor's power (Meiji restoration - 1867) thus ending the rule of Shogunate. Emperor enacted large reforms which made from feudal Japan a powerful empire in matter of decades.
