men carried on fighting because of the simple fact that somethings where simply not all that bad. people misinterpret the great war hugely as all they know is one side if the story, more usual than less, people only ever know about the horrific event witch are indeed true but not only the events that went on.

sometimes men seemed to enjoy part of their time spent in war. they were not badly treated as they where well cared for and spent more than 60% of their time behind the line (not in the firing line)

they where provided with healthy balanced diets and decent food at the time.

also they felt strongly about their friendships they had formed with the other soldiers and giving up would be letting them all down witch wasn't an option.
