The Pope was looking for a reason to create a super-power, and then the Emperor sent him a letter complaining about the Turks, so the Pope decided to take advantage of the opportunity. He said that it is not a crime to kill people, if they are not fellow Christians. This is why many people went, and gave up jobs.
