To demonstate U.S. naval power (apex)
I am not sure what you want to know. The Red Cross is a private relief organization. They are not under control of the President and they decide where to focus their relief efforts.
He wanted to get the rights to build a canal in Panama at a lower price.
Conflicts in the New World infuriated the Spanish, and they decided to send the fleet of ships to attack and invade England.
No. Dunkerque happened before the battle of britain, and we were not a part WWII before that battle.
By November of 1903, the deal with Colombia and Panamanian rebels was still unfinished. Roosevelt sent the USS Nashville to dock off Colon' to help the rebels.
The Great White Fleet
The Great White Fleet
It was known as the Great White Fleet.
The battleships, known as "The Great White Fleet", were sent around the world to display United States' naval capability, which is another way of saying to show off American power.
Roosevelt was the US president in 1906. He did send the "Great White Fleet" around the world though on a "show of force" to the "Yellow Race", the Japanese (hence the white painted battleships) under the disquise of a "around the world good will cruise." The Japanese had just defeated the Russians in 1905, thus the Great White Fleet show of force cruise. This was to let the "Yellow Race" know that the "White Race" was still a power to be reckened with. See website (or the dictionary) for further information on the "Yellow Peril" of the early 20th century.
Theodore Roosevelt sent an American fleet to the Philippines in 1907 to demonstrate American naval power and assert the United States' growing influence in Asia. This move was part of his broader strategy to project strength and deter potential threats, particularly from Japan, amid rising tensions in the region. The deployment of the "Great White Fleet" aimed to showcase American military capabilities and promote diplomacy through strength. It also reinforced the U.S. commitment to its interests in the Pacific following the Spanish-American War.
Roosevelt didn't have to send any orders. Gen Eisenhower was in control on D-Day.
Having studied history, this is a new one. I do not recall any time that any president "abandoned" Congress. The only thing that sounds familiar during Teddy Roosevelt's administration could be the minor debate he encountered with Senator Eugene Hale from Maine over Teddy's decision to send the Great White Fleet on a round the world cruise and maneuvers. Hale, the chairman of the Naval Appropriates Committee, threatened Roosevelt that the money needed to float the fleet would be withheld if he continued with his plans for the cruise. Teddy, always the Rough Rider assured Hale and the rest of Congress that he already had the money and challenged them to "try and get it back."
The Navy
The "Great White Fleet", a name that doubled to both describe the painted battleships, which were painted white & at the same time send a message to the yellow race that the white race was still a great sea power. This was due to Japan's recent victory over Russia during the Russo-Japanese War in 1904-1905.
His fleet of ships also known as The Armada.
