Since the hill was, well a hill, it was more difficult for the confederacy to go up the hill and eazy for the union army to shoot them down as they struggled up the hill.it was this and several other factors that let the union win the war. that was the most important battle because not only did they defeat the confederate side but they're crushed spirit once again restored and they were able to fight on.
