Why did the English emigrate to Colonial America?

Some came to build a new life. Others came to make their fortunes. Many came to escape poverty; the living conditions in England were terrible for the poor. Some came as prisoners who were sent to Georgia on parole. Many came as indentured servants of the upper classes.

This isn't a full answer but I know of one large reason: at that time, England is ruling unfairly, and people want to get away. Also, people want to start their new lives, or get away from their old ones, and sometimes parts of their family moved there and they want to be together again. America was a new place quickly growing and becoming a new home for hundreds, and there was no persucution of religion or race and it really was a free place to live-not money wise but culturaly speaking yes. There was an abundant amount of space and land, and it was a great place to begin a family.

By the way, in England, you werent a colonist; your a colonist if you lived in America at that time, in one of the 13 colonies. England resented the idea, ergo, they were not at all part of being colonists. :)
