The main differences between the two was all down to the fact that the Germans dug in 1st. this meant they were on higher ground and better soil conditions too.
The British however, were barely 3 ft above sea level, so when they dug in, their trenches instantly flooded. Because of all the water they would regularly collapse. Also, the ground conditions were very bad; clay and sand which only led to more waterlogged trenches; also clya nad sand was hard to dig and shape.
lastly, the Brithish commanding officers believed that the trenches were only temporary and so were hastily constructed. the Germans knew that they would be staying there for a time; and so carefully planned out the details of the trenches.

The Somme had good and bad results/effects. Good: Tired out the German Army Was the start of the decline of the German Army More German casualties than British ones Made British and allied soldiers better the hard way - was the training ground of the British Army WITHOUT IT THE ALLIES WOULD NOT HAVE WON THE WAR IN 1918 Bad: Lots of British casualties - the Somme has become a metaphor for slaughter and has been called a 'self sacrifice
The Germans had the advantage as they concreted the bottoms of the trenches for sturdier walking also they were at the top of a hill on some occasions so all the water from their trenches ran into the English ones. To add to this, most of their trenches were over seven feet deep to ensure 'safer' living for the soldiers.

The German hand grenades were launched off a stick, giving them slightly longer range than thrown British or American grenades.
the french and the British dropped bombs on the German trench's to try and kill the Nazi's but the Germans had buried trenches underground so very little got hurt and the barbed wire at the front of the Nazi trenches was not cut so when the whistle blew and the Brits ran out the Germans set up there machine guns and killed them and the ones who made it the barbed wire was not cut so they had no chance of survival

The only difference I can think of is that American bomber raids were during the day, the British bomber raids were at night, This was so the German war machine got continuous pounding from the allies.
