Because the Jews were not the government in Palestine at the time Jesus was on earth. Each of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, John and Luke) give a perspective on what happened at "The Crucifixion". Jesus did die. He was tried before Pontius Pilate the Roman governor of Palestine. He was found innocent but the angry mob cried to "crucify him!" and so Pilate washed his hands of the matter, as he knew this was an innocent man. By local tradition, Jesus had been arrested by the Romans, and was offered freedom if the population chose. Jerusalem chose Barabas, a Palestinian terrorist who had been captured earlier by the Romans.
But this is only fulfilment of Bible prophecy. Jesus was beaten, lead up to the hill called Golgotha or calvary and there nailed to a cross between two men. He died and was buried. Remaining in the tomb until the third day, Sunday when he arose. Being God, he had no problem doing this.
So He did die, He just didn't stay dead. And this is cool, because The Bible tells us this is how all of humanity's sin is paid for - we can ALL go to heaven if we accept this as what happened and trust that Jesus is our Savior. Cool huh? I think so.
So the Jews could not kill Him because they were not the governing body in Jerusalem at the time.
He wanted to kill them because they were Jewish.
The Jewish religion.
The Romans did not want Jesus. Jesus was taken to Poltius Pilates, the Roman governor of Judea by the Jewish judges of the Sanhedrin. They considered Jeusus to be a blasphemous heretic and wanted the Romans to execute him.
Jesus' followers did not want him to be crucified. Jesus, himself, did not entirely want to be crucified, but he saw the necessity of it and allowed himself to endure the pain for the greater good.
No he probably didn't, but he did believe Jesus was an innocent man and he didn't want to kill him.
The Jews were angry as he , Jesus said he was the son of god, the Romans were against him as they did not want their empire toppled.
