The cost of regenerating the London Docklands, which began in the early 1980s and continued over several decades, is estimated to be around £1.5 billion. This redevelopment aimed to transform the former industrial area into a vibrant business and residential hub. Key investments included infrastructure improvements, housing projects, and the establishment of the Docklands Light Railway (DLR). The transformation has significantly boosted the local economy and property values in the area.
It wasn't just Liverpool. London, Manchester, Glasgow, Leith, Cardiff, Bristol, Newcastle etc all suffered. The change came about with containerisation. Felixstowe and Southampton are now the two main ports for large ships.

Other significant bombings took place in central London near the City of London and the West End.
