Why did the feudal system breakdown?

The black death ultimately caused the collapse of the Feudal system as there was a shortage of workers which caused wages to shoot up. The peasants were no longer willing to accept serfdom and since there was a shortage of workers the nobility had to pay them. Many peasants did very well and managed to raise themselves to higher social classes, which went against the social order of the feudal system. that's pretty much what started the breakdown.

As men returned from the Crusades a class of yeoman began to form and this was the start of the "middle class". These men felt no loyalty to a particular king and they had seen another culture as well as learned things about the world. This added pressure to the system as more and more of these men returned and roamed at will instead of going back and becoming a tenet farmer. Added to this was the invention of the printing press in 1446 which gave more people new ideas and thinking. Now, instead of people learning things from only one source ( generally, the Catholic church) they could read what others thought. In the late 1400's exploring began and this not only brought new foods and ideas into Europe but people began to see that there were others in the world. All of this together built until the feudal system began to crumble and the Renaissance began.
