As the Europeans thought that they were a better people than the Aborigine, they assumed themselves the leader of the 'new land'. Totally disregarding the Aboriginal culture and way of life, they enforced the English way of life and laws upon the natural inhabitants. Settlers were speared, Aboriginals were shot, so, Governor Stirling took 25 mounted, armed troops to a river in Pinjarra, where they split into 2 groups, and attacked a group of Aboriginals from two sides. The Aboriginals had no chance. It wasn't only the Men who were hunted, the war party shot, women, children and elders. Out of the 70 Aborigines only about 10 survived. There was one fatality on the European side, Captain Ellis, fell off his horse and sustained head injuries. Is this a battle? Should it be known as a Battle in history books?
