In 1800, when Burr and Jefferson tied in electoral vote, Burr refused to concede and tried to sneak into the Presidency. This trick did not sit well with Jefferson and his supporters. Burr and Jefferson also disagreed on several matters.
true
No one. Burr and Hamilton had a duel where Burr shot and mortally wounded Hamilton.
Burr
Aaron Burr
In the election of 1800-1801, the electoral college had mostly Republicans and each of them had two votes. Each of them cast one vote for Jefferson and one vote for Aaron Burr. The only problem was that Burr and Jefferson came up in a tie. Burr refused to back down (probably from a desire to be president himself instead of vice president.) Finally, the allowed the House of Representatives to vote and Hamilton used his influence to make them vote for Jefferson as he was less disliked than Burr. The problem was resolved by having separate elections for vice president and president.
Democratic Republicans
true
According to the Constitution, the House of Representatives had to choose between Burr and Jefferson. The federalists, however, still controlled the House of representatives. It was true that the Democratic-Republicans wanted Jefferson as their president. Even so, the Federalists would decide the winner. Members of the House of Representatives voted 36 time before finally electing Jefferson as President. Burr became vice-president.
George Washington favored Hamilton over Jefferson because George and Hamilton were both Republicans

Select: Choose, pick, decide on Special: unique, extraordinary, individual
The main parties in the election of 1800 are the Democratic-Republicans and the Federalists.
the reason for the 12 admendent was because they couldn't decide on a vote between Jefferson and burr
select, choose,pick,decide!
Jefferson and Burr tied in the number of electoral votes, 73. These are the votes that decide the president. Due to this, the decision went to the House of Representatives (I believe this rule is somewhere in the Constitution or one of its amendments.) Obviously, The House of Representatives voted for Jefferson, which is one of the reasons most of us have not heard of Burr and all of us have heard of Jefferson). The Jeffersonian Republicans, not to be confused with today's Republican party, (although they share many similar ideas), held the majority in the House. Thus resulted in President Jefferson.
No one. Burr and Hamilton had a duel where Burr shot and mortally wounded Hamilton.
According to the Constitution, the House of Representatives had to choose between Burr and Jefferson. The Democratic-Republicans clearly intended for Jefferson to be president. However, the (New) House of Representatives, dominated by Jefferson's party, would not take office for some months. Federalists still held a majority in the House, and their votes would decide the winner.Aaron Burr refused to concede the election to Thomas Jefferson. Although the House of Representatives did eventually choose Jefferson as the clear winner (with an absolute majority of the votes) it wasn't until the 36th ballot!
