Why did they form Jamestown?

Jamestown was the first permanent English colony in America. The first known Europeans to land on what is now Jamestown Island, Virginia, were about 100 men and boys. They came ashore on May 24, 1607.

The purpose for the colony of Jamestown was to establish the first English Colony in the New World. The group also planned to explore Virginia and trade with the Indians.

He lived, but his burns were bad enough to send him home. Several years after he wrote a book bragging he saved the colony and added the fable about Pocahontas saving his life. By the time to book was published she was dead and couldn't refute his story. That story has been used as "history" and told several times in various forms, but it is NOT true.
