Everyone acts differently from day to day and from person to person. I am sorry if all of your experiences with men and been bad. Hopefully you will find a guy who is less jerky that the ones that you know.
A guy acting as a jerk is a perception that you have of that person while others my think that he is fine.
Answer
Most people - not just men - act like jerks sometimes. We're all susceptible to bad moods or displays of annoyance that put us in a less-than-favorable light with others. That doesn't necessarily mean the behavior is a core characteristic.
Men who seem to be chronic jerks, however, may have underlying emotional or personality disorders that are expressed in unpleasant ways. Sometimes insecurities are disguised as egotism, hostility, or rudeness, for example. Sometimes people have learned to overvalue themselves, and may feel an unjustified sense of entitlement or superiority (short of full-blown Narcissism). Others may have an overabundance of normal, but unpleasant, personality traits such as selfishness or competitiveness.
People's core beliefs can also make them seem like jerks to those who hold opposite beliefs. Conflicts may arise from discordant views about gender roles, religion, politics, and other sensitive topics.
A good follow-up question for some people might be: "Why am I often attracted to jerks?" or "Why do I stay with someone after I learn he's a jerk?" or even, "Why do I think all men are jerks?" Once you can answer those questions, it's often easier to see that not all men are jerks, and to make better choices about the company you keep.
AN ADDED THOUGHT:
I would agree with the above answerer's assessment and warning to be aware of these matters when choosing the company you keep. It is important to be aware that many such men are often dishonest, untrustworthy, manipulative or have other similar character flaws that are not evident at first. This lack of forthrightness is often necessary to hide negative character traits in order to gain friends who would otherwise keep their distance from a man who having the kind of personality typical of a man who is a jerk. Men with such a personality can cause real problems depending on the degree of involvement. Unfortunately, dishonesty is often difficult to discover. So, if a man does show signs of being a jerk, be careful because he may be worse than just a simple jerk.
