Why do people think the world is ending in the year 2012?

Because they are trying to make people scared. And don't worry! The world will end in 5 billion years. And trust me. TRUST ME! I tell the truth and.....well.....maybe........I don't know what will happen!

Many people have many different theories. But this one I think is the most logical:

In the Anglo-Saxon times they made calendars to keep track of time. The made so many that it led up to the year 2012. When they finished the 2012 calander, they were extinct (you know what I mean) so they couldn't write any more calendars. So then someone thought that they probably stopped writing them up to 2012 because, that's when the world will end! They basically assume it when they don't know the whole story. It's a huge offence to Science if you calling it Science, when it's just a load of rubbish. They've said the world will end before, but we're still here, aren't we?

because an ancient community of people, called the Mayans, made a giant calender that the events and natural disasters became true. the Calender ends in 2012 so people think that earth will end. when my monthly calender in my room needs replacing, who said the world going to end? The Mayans Calender might start over.

Well, people think that the world is going to end because the Mayan calender ends on 2012. The Atlanteans, how were very skilled astronomers were able to predict the world wide flood in 9792BC. And they predicted an even bigger catastrophe in 2012. Also, every roughly 750,00 years, the two poles of the earth "reverse" themselves. Basically the poles switch places causing the world to literally flip upside down. Anyway, the earth is about 30,000 years overdue. Scientist have calculated that the poles are moving about 20-30kms. every year. Which means that a polar shift is probably right around the corner. When the poles shift, the magnetic field around the earth practically disappears for years. This means the sun would burn anything in its path.

However, the descendant's of the Atlanteans which were the Mayans and the early Egyptians, knew how to survive these events. In Egypt, there is a Labyrinth and in the Labyrinth, there is a room. It tells you everything you you need to know about how to survive the final phase of the earth.

I contend people are misinformed, when "time" will be no more. The Mayan calendar ends in 2012 as well. Thus the "end oftime". Accordingly, this would bring in an illumination of a new era and level of self consciousness.
