Mud and hay are commonly used in African houses due to their availability and excellent insulating properties. The mud provides thermal mass, helping to keep interiors cool during hot days and warm at night, while hay adds structural strength and insulation. These materials are also eco-friendly and sustainable, making them suitable for rural communities. Additionally, local building traditions often dictate the use of these materials, reflecting cultural practices and environmental adaptations.
