Benito Mussolini from Italy
Benito Mussolini invaded Greece on October 28, 1940. He wanted to surprise Hitler with this action. The small but mighty Greek army pushed the overwhelming Italian army back into Albania from which the invasion was launched. Hitler was upset with Mussolin for not contacting him before attacking Greece. Hitler had to rescue Mussolini by conquering Greece in Spring of 1941. This also upset Hitler's time table (Operation Barbarossa) to invade Russia. The invasion was delayed and the harsh winter of '41-42 aided in the defeat of Axis powers. Mussolini's promise to Resurect Magna Grecia was never fulfilled.
