That's because the Gulf Stream that travels up the east coast of U.S. carries warm water north to higher latitudes where England is. This warm water also warms the air which makes the temperature in England higher than other countries on the same and similar latitudes. If the Gulf Stream didn't do this, then England would have much harsher winters.
