Aristotle was a very important, and influential character, for the better, and for the worse. His teachings of logic and rational discourse have provided the framework for 'classical' logic, which we still use to day when presenting and accessing logical syllogisms.

Not only do his axioms (self evident truths) still have relevance today, they have made logic a more powerful tool to look at reality in a coherent and productive manner.
