Understanding the Mayan civilization is challenging due to the complexities of their language, culture, and history, which evolved over thousands of years across diverse regions. The limited and often fragmented archaeological record complicates our ability to piece together their societal structures, belief systems, and daily life. Additionally, the Mayans had a highly developed writing system that remains only partially deciphered, further obscuring their historical narratives and achievements. Cultural biases and the colonial perspective have also influenced interpretations of their civilization, adding layers of misunderstanding.
No one really knows how the Mayan civilization coll pased. It collapsed around 900 A.D.
In South Mexico, and into Guatemala and Honduras, and Belize. Their society just, all of a sudden, started to collapse about 900 A.D. The hypotheses are so varied and so many that it is really hard to tell.
There were two types of Jade: Nephrite and Jadeite. Jadeite was rarer, so it meant more to the Mayans. Jadeite symbolized three things: Eternal love, Eternity, and Immortality. It was even more valuable than gold!

It does. But then, the Mayan civilization itself ended a long time ago, as a result of the Spanish conquest, so they don't really need their own calendar anyway, at this point.

Why is life so hard? just to guess
Because scholars have not yet learned their language so they could not understand it
because it is hard to understand and some people dont realize how important it is in life!
The Mayan code was difficult to break because it was a combination of both ideographic and phonetic symbols. The complexity of the writing system, the lack of a clear understanding of the Mayan language, and the limited number of surviving texts made it challenging for researchers to decipher. Additionally, the Mayan scribes used a mix of mathematical, calendrical, and astronomical knowledge in their inscriptions, adding another layer of complexity to the code.
The Mayans didn't vanish. They moved all over, partly into what is now Mexico and South America. They also moved northward, the Mayan's history is clouded by the lack of information and the understanding of what is available. The Mayan civilization had cycles of life each consisted of I believe 533 years or something like that. Their belief was that each 1000 years a "new" world or cycle would begin. Each cycle brought different elements of life such as disaster, great bounty etc... This is why the Mayan calender ends December 21, 2012. The 5,000 year cycle starts again or so it's believed.
