Because white is the absence of darkness and black is the absence of light. They compliment one another.
Ying and yang consist of two shades, black and white.
A yin-yang is a circular symbol with black and white sections, representing the fusion of the concepts of yin and yang.
Yin represents female energy, darkness and weakness and Yang represents male energy, light and strength. The white represents the good on a yin-yang sign
Yin-Yang represents the ancient Chinese understanding of how things work. The outer circle represents "everything", while the black and white shapes within the circle represent the interaction of two energies, called "yin" (black) and "yang" (white), which cause everything to happen. They are not completely black or white, just as things in life are not completely black or white, and they cannot exist without each other. While "yin" would be dark, passive, downward, cold, contracting, and weak, "yang" would be bright, active, upward, hot, expanding, and strong.
The lines represent yin and yang as the grow and fall from each other. The full lines represent yang (white) and the broken lines represent yin (black). The more full lines in the tetragram, the more yang influence. Thus, the more broken lines in the tetragram, the more yin influence.
Ying and yang consist of two shades, black and white.
i would have said no. but in the yin yang the black is on the left and white is on the right

Yin represents female energy, darkness and weakness and Yang represents male energy, light and strength. So no Yang is not black. Yin is black and Yang is white
the black one generally it's supposed to be like yin and yang yin = black fish with white eye yang = white fish with black eye
Yin is the black and yang is the white. The yin is feminine, Earth, water, coldness, etc. and is related to fate. The yang is masculine, Heaven, fire, heat, etc. and is connected to free-will. Neither is good or bad. According to Daoism (also known as Taoism), everyone contains both yin and yang. Whenever there is less of one there is more of the other. We need to strive to keep them both in balance.

Yin is often represented as black in the yin-yang symbol, which illustrates the dual nature of reality in Chinese philosophy. Yin embodies qualities such as darkness, femininity, and receptivity. In contrast, yang is represented as white, symbolizing light, masculinity, and activity. Thus, yin is associated with the color black.
I think you may be referring to yin and yang. If my knowledge is correct then yin has a light color, usually white, while yang has a dark color, usually black.
The yin and yang needs to keep balanced because in the circle half of it is black and half of it is white so if its not balanced it wont be even.
The yin yang represents the ancient Chinese understanding of how things work. the outer circle represents 'everything' and the yin (black) which represents negative and yang (white) which represents positive cause everything to happen, one is not better than the other. but they are not completely black and white, just like things in life are not all black and white but they cannot exist without each other.
