The Palace of Knossos is a UNESCO site because it represents one of the only sites that holds a record of the aincient Minoan civilisation and tells the story of the civilizations rise and fall. Found inside it have also been over 3000 tablets containing the unknown and untranslated Linear A and the language Linear B which is now known to be a very early form of Aincient greek.
